The first year of Dynamos was 1988, the year on our badge. The club was founded by college mates who were studying Tourism at Bristol Polytechnic; Dai and Tony (plus others). These founding fathers entered the team into some local friendlies and looked for a league that they could enter. A league was found and games ensued; and the first incarnation of was christened ‘Dynamo Tourismo’ (a nod to the University course which brought this band of merry men together).

This was the late 80s/early 90s with a group of mates in their early twenties driven purely by their love of the beautiful game; resources were in short supply, namely kit! The club begged and borrowed and managed to get hold of a kit that was the same as the Belarus national kit. This prompted a name change to ‘Dynamo Belarus.’ Around this time the club entered the Bristol Casuals League, a home for teams looking for an organised league, but without the formality (and also a place for teams getting a little more ‘mature’).

The club had several places it called home at this stage; The Lawns near Cribbs, Pill, St Anne’s to name a few. And around 2005 the club changed and dropped the Belarus to be known just as Dynamos. We managed to get a sponsor for our shirt thanks to Tel, who worked for a local cabin hire firm. Badger became the manager for a three-year stint to enact his vision.

But players started getting old and retiring, numbers dwindled and training was sporadic. Happily a new generation came in spearheaded by Mike H. We got a new kit; it was a Nike one; seriously posh! A cup semi-final followed in 2018/19, Dynamos falling short of cup glory by a single goal conceded in extra time. Finally, after many years clinging on to our Division 2 status the club finally dropped down to the third tier, albeit in a season which ended up being cut short by Covid.

With numbers falling and the future of the club in doubt, 2020/21 brought a merger with Trojans Vets and ensured the continuing legacy of Dynamos.
