Nailsea Vets 50s vs Russell Athletic 50s

Our ref cried off at short notice so thanks to our injured striker Lee Cogan for standing in to officiate.

The early Sunday morning deluge had blown away by kick off and although blustery the conditions remained dry for the match. The first half lacked much action in either penalty box although Nailsea controlled the majority of possession. Russell went closest when a short defensive header back to the keeper allowed their striker in only to see his shot hit the left post.

The second half mirrored the first but as Nailsea started chasing the game for a win, gaps started opening up at the back to give Russell more chances. A mix up in the Nailsea defense  30 minutes into the second half gifted Russell the opener with a tap in. Another mistake in midfield let Russell in for a well taken second and the result was in the bag. Nailsea scored a late conciliation goal but it was too little too late.

3 points lost but we hope to be on better form in front of goal against Russell in a couple of weeks for our cup match.

Clevedon Utd Vets vs Yate Town Vets

Yate town report

Our 2nd league game saw us visit Clevedon vets. We managed to come out 6 – 1 winners against a well organised side.

Enjoyable game with a good bunch of lads.

Nailsea Vets 45s vs Easton Cowboys 45’s

The match was moved to Easton Cowboys as a home fixture for them at their request.

The first half was excellent for the neutral both teams traded goals with the half time score being 3-3 in a open game.

2nd half Nailsea were much better organised and ran out comfortable 6-3 winners. Congratulations to striker Martin Sidebottom who scored an amazing 5 goals with Andy Moore scoring the other goal for Nailsea.

Ashley Vets vs Easton Monday

Another blustery overcast October Sunday morning saw Easton Monday line up against the always competitive Ashley Vets. A well contested half with Ashley, clearly a very solid and competitive outfit all over the pitch. Our best efforts came down the left from Draner who hit the post only to see the ball roll back along the line and one where after a fine run he passed across the goal to Aaron, and Morgs had a good flash header, shortly followed by a powerful shot from the edge of the box going only just wide. 15 mins to go Jamie rocked up with a wonder goal as he curled it from outside the left hand side of the box into the top right hand corner, sigh of relief from the defenders who were watching us struggle for a breakthrough. We finished the remainder of the game strongly with Arron capping an excellent second half individual performance and calming the nerves with a nice finish as he burst through one on one with the keeper. The games was played in a Corinthian spirit and we wish our opponents well with the rest of the season.
