Backwell Ath Vets Report:

A really good game played in the Corninthian spirit. Both teams played some good football and tried to keep the ball moving in muddy conditions.
Backwell probably edged the possession and attacking stats and this finally told as we went 1-0 up in the first half.
Another Backwell goal soon after half time gave us some breathing space but Red Star kept going and made the game really competitive. Finally they won a penalty in the last ten minutes which was  dispatched with aplomb and set up a grand stand finish which the huge crowd of a couple of kids and a bloke and his dog thoroughly enjoyed.

Red Star 35s Report:

The last game before the 2nd lockdown, which was played in a VERY CORINTHIAN yet competitive spirit by both sides. Backwell played some great football and took a 2-0 lead with Red Star also playing well and fighting back as the game went on. The game was also brilliantly reffed which only added to the enjoyment of this high quality, competitive and very corinthian game of football as we all brace ourselves for another lockdown and no team sports for a while. Dynamos 3rd league game of the season saw us face Bristol Pigeons at SBL. Pigeons started the brighter of the two sides, however we scored the first goal early on with a neat finish from Mike Hope. Pigeons began to dominate the midfield as Dynamos struggled to cope with their extra man in the middle. Craig and Matt putting in a great shift to try and break up play. An injury to Capes at the end of the first half led to Craig dropping into centre back until half time. Pigeons were on top at this point and an equaliser seemed inevitable.

Half time game Dynamos the opportunity to reshuffle and Joe, who’d only come to watch from sidelines, was persuaded (bullied?) into getting kitted up and fill in at centre back. Adam dropped back from centre forward to help in midfield. The second half was more even, Pigeons still enjoying possession but struggling to find the killer pass. The second goal in the game was always going to be key and it went to Dynamos, a fine finish on the half volley from Matt Vaughan. This appeared to knock Pigeons and Joe Parsons was able to add a third. Pigeons didn’t give up and got the goal they deserved as the game reached it’s closing stages.

Thanks to Pigeons for a hard fought game before we all go into hibernation for a month (hopefully!)
