Match Reports

On a windy Fry’s show pitch Corries and Shine played out a 9 goal thriller. Both teams had a steady start but it was Corries who took the early lead. Chris latching onto onto a through ball to then lob the keeper. Corries began to play some good flowing football and eventually increased their advantage when debutant Josh fired home. Against the run of play Shine pulled a goal back when a speculative hoof/cross somehow managed to make a fool of Mike in goal as he flapped away.

So 2-1 at half time.

Corries came out in the second half and began to dominate and increased their lead with some excellent build up play and finishing from firstly Kaine, then Tahir to make the score 4-1. Corries then subconsciously decided to attack attack attack, which subsequently backfired drastically. In a poor 15 mins, firstly Matty gave away a penalty for handball (30% unlucky), which Shine dispatched. Then a wind assisted ball over the top wasn’t dealt with (Tom D) and Shine were back to 4-3. Then Tom D gave away a contentious penalty for what can only be described as a slight shoulder barge (99.99% unlucky) which somehow the ref gave. (I think he had been watching the adjoining under 10’s match and applied primary school football logic). Shine dispatched the kick and Corries had somehow let a 4-1 lead slip and it was now 4-4 with 20 minutes to go.

Corries began to try and play some football again and with 10 mins to go nicked a (probably deserved winner) when Josh grabbed his second. The whistle went and Corries grabbed the 3 points. All in all the game was played in great Corinthian spirit. Roll on the next game whenever that may be…….!
