Reclinosaurs vs Lion FC

A really good battle at BAWA played in good spirit throughout. Lion were the better team from the off, but despite a lot of possession, Reclinosaurs looked dangerous on the break. Jani played a lovely through ball fro Will who slotted home to give the ‘Saurs a lead.Lion fought back strongly and in their centre midfielder they had a player who was in a different class, seemingly able to be everywhere at the same time. A great cross and volley brought the equalizer before a series of errors gifted Lion the lead. In the second half Lion again came out strong and scored a third, but Reclinosaurs continued to work hard and a superb individual goal from Will made it 3-2, before a great chance to equalize was spurned with the last kick of the game. Good luck to Lion for the rest of the season.

Reclinosaurs vs 78CC

With the fixture pile up meaning the franchise had to get 3 teams out today, Reclinosaurs were leaning heavily on the over 50’s for this one, with only 4 outfield players the right side of the big 5-0, but we thought we had a decent chance against 78cc, based on previous encounters, This version of the 78s is a different beast, as shown by the vigorous and organized warm up which was not something we had encountered before. They flew out of the blocks and dominated the early part of the game, scoring with a speculative long shot and then an unfortunate OG off the keeper, which should have been disallowed for an earlier offside. They added a good third before Reclinosaurs finally came alive and pulled one back through an OG of their own. The ‘Saurs started to be the better team after the break and had Gaffers long range shot gone in rather than hitting the bar, it would have made for a tense finale. In the end though, the younger legs told and 78CC added 2 classy goals right at the death. Always a pleasure to play 78CC who deserved the win, although it was more of a contest than the scoreline suggests!

Reclinosaurs vs Filton High Vets

BAWA pitch held up well as Reclinosaurs and Filton played out an 8 goal thriller. Unfortunately I only caught the last few minutes, but I’m told it was a great game, the Saurs dominated early on and were 3-1 up at one stage, but Filton fought back and could have nicked it at the end. Goals from Rick (3) and Zsolt. Thanks for lending the keeper top, our keeper is contacting one of your boys who he knows to arrange returning it.

Reclinosaurs vs Avon Retreads

The BAWA pitch was in great condition despite the downpours and the weather was perfect for the game. Reclinosaurs started brightly, creating several good chances before a well worked move was finished superbly by Jani. Retreads looked dangerous on the break and with the HT score 1-0 we knew more goals would be needed. Retreads came out of the blocks quickly after the break and equalized with a great free kick, then took the lead following a scramble after a corner. Reclinsoaurs were down, but not out and some comedy defending allowed the Duke to nip in twice to score, unfortunately pulling his hammy in the process. Reclinosaurs 3-2 up. With legs tiring it was backs to the wall for the last twenty and eventually a penalty was awarded allowing Retreads to equalize. Result was about right, thanks to Rich for reffing, well played all!

Reclinosaurs vs Nailsea Vets 50s

A game of two halves – literally!  Since we’d be unable to schedule a new date for the postponed game earlier in the season, we agreed to play this match as a doubleheader; with each half counting as a separate result.

Nailsea fielded a few new faces and we’re hopeful this was an introduction for a growing squad next season. Lee Philips was lively on the right hand side of midfield for Nailsea and provided two assists for Lee Cogan to put us up 2-0 after half an hour. The first was a header from a well floated cross and the second was a bullet of a shot into the top left corner as Cogs cut inside onto his left foot from a Lee P pass inside. Shortly before half time Cogs notched his hat trick drilling low into the net picking the ball up from a rebound after a Matt G shot. The score could have been higher being it not for some heroics from Russ in the sticks from Reclinosaurs. Result 3-0.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first with Nailsea confident on the ball and dominating possession. After 5 minutes new boy Steve Lester ran onto the ball in the centre of the pitch and from 40 plus yards out hit a dipping shot into the roof of the net. This seemed to rally Reclinosaurs who began to boss midfield and create more of a threat. After 15 minutes play was stopped when an aerial challenge (quite innocuous and nothing sinister) resulted in Nailsea left back Shane out cold as he fell and landed on the back of his head. He was taken off to hospital for observation and we all hope he has a full and quick recovery. Play restarted after a 10 minute delay and Reclinosaurs dominated possession with Nailsea sitting deeper on the edge of their box but managing to defend resolutely. Russ made a couple more saves from a couple of rare Nailsea attacks to keep Reclinosaurs in with a chance but Nailsea managed to hold out for another 3 points.

Played in a good spirit in perfect conditions on a sunny Sunday morning.

Reclinosaurs vs Re-Union

A good game on a tricky surface at the Met school, where Reclinosaurs achieved their goal of doing better than in the 10-0 reverse in the previous game with Re-Union. First half was fairly even, the Saurs conceded a soft goal from a corner, but created chances of their own, before Re-union spurned two great opportunities to increase the lead just before the break. After HT Re-Union came out with renewed vigor and scored two good goals. Tony scored a superb direct free kick to pull one back, then a mix up at the back gifted RU a fourth. Saurs weren’t finished though and immediately struck back when Rev tucked a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Fitness began to tell and as the Saurs ran out of legs RU added two more from defensive errors. Congratulations to RU, who now look certain to claim the div 2 title.
