WCMB Report:
Goals, Armstrong, Beecham. Very tight game. Couldve gone either way but fortunately we got the winner. On reflection a draw would’ve been fair. Game played in a good spirit with both teams trying to win so very competitive.
Redland Report:
This was basically a div 1 game, very similar to the good old days of PAS v Undy, Caldicot or Wick. Avonmouth is a strong side with decent players, the pitch is also huge which normally plays to our strengths as Redland are a fit team. But on the day we had an off day and Avonmouth played well and got the goal that counted. There was a slightly dubious penalty in the first half which was awarded by the ref even though the flag had already been up for offside and there were a couple a late tackles from one player in particular but that should not take the gloss off what was a good competitive game of football. Well done we look forward to the return leg next year.

Decliners debuted as the reserve team of the Recliners franchise in season 19-20. Now transferring to the over 50’s division Decliners is intended to give aging Recliners one final hurrah on the pitch even if this contravenes doctor’s orders. Victory in the 2021 over 50’s cup final brought the franchise its first silverware.

Red Star Report:
Red Star 35s got their new campaign underway with a hard-fought win against tough battling opposition. Filton were much the better team in the first half causing Red Star’s midfield and defence all sorts of problems, but the game turned when Red Star’s #10 was felled in the box resulting in a hotly-contested penalty. Tom Sewell then kept his nerve and slotted the spot kit into the bottom corner. Red Star settled in the second half and continued to create chances but a disallowed Filton goal didn’t help the mood. They pushed for an equaliser and the game began to get stretched. Fatigue crept in and brought with it a few tasty challenges, but having squandered three or four gilt-edged chances Red Star held on to take the three points. Thanks to Filton for a good competitive match. It’s good to be back.
