Filton Ath 35s vs Backwell Ath Vets

Filton Report:
A really good game, with both teams playing some good football. Backwell had the better of it in general, hitting the post a couple of times and spurning some good chances when it might have been easier to score! Filton got back into it with a penalty with 15 minutes to go, and despite increased Backwell pressure, and some more misses, Filton held firm to get the draw.
Honours even, and a game enjoyed by all.

Lion FC vs Red Star 35s

Red Star Report:

A week after doing battle in the cup, Red Star 35s and Lion met for what-would-be another tight encounter in the league. As before Lion made a lot of the early running and cruised to a 3-1 lead, but Red Star pushed hard in the second half snatching a second setting the game up for a grandstand finish. As Red Star pushed for an equaliser gaps began to appear and there were chances at both ends, but as a last-gasp header sailed wide it was all over and Lion took all the points in another excellent match between these two divisional rivals.

Filton High Vets vs Weston Pirates

Filton Report:

With the autumnal weather leaving a nice dew on the playing surface it favoured the slick passing game, but unfortunately that is rare in vets football even still it was filton that applied the early pressure and after a few sighters Damien settled the early nerves with a well taken goal , this led to weston having a bit of the ball and applied their own pressure and after a well driven shot was parried away cairnes who obviously felt in a charitable mood proceeded to slice the ball into his own net which gave weston hope .
Filtons player manager determined to ease the pressure on his position by producing some lung busting runs down the flank to provide the perfect cross for Damien to bag a 2nd quickly followed by a 3rd to compete his first half hatrick indeed if filtons forwards hadn’t been eager to join in the action filton could of been out of site but unfortunately their eagerness saw them straying into an offside position.
The 2nd half started well again for filton with a brilliant effort from dobby to add his name to the score sheet with his 1st with filton seemingly in control weston managed to break out and with only the keeper to beat weston were thwarted from some excellent keeping , with this let off filton continued to probe westons goal and again kopera turned provider with an excellent cross for dobby to turn in his second and not to be outdone by damien dobby completed his hatrick with possibly the goal of the game

Bryan Munich vs Easton Cowboys 45’s

Bryan Munich Report:

A fine and equal game. Bryan went 1-0 up in the first minute, then 2-1 down and finally got an equaliser. Cowboys were great to play against and a tough, well fought game was had by all, probably a fair result.

Cowboys Report:

This game finished in a 2-2 draw which was a probably a fair reflection of a match between two evenly matched teams.
Bryan took an early lead when a Cowboys’ defensive mix-up allowed them to chip the keeper.
The Cowboys equalised when the Bryan keeper couldn’t hold a shot and the incoming striker forced it home.
A quick move down the left saw the Bryan keeper make a good save but the first person to the ball was our midfielder who slammed it into the net. This gave the Cowboys a 2-1 lead at half-time.
The second half was pretty even with both teams making chances. Bryan eventually got an equaliser when a  loose ball bounced up and onto the arm of a Cowboys’ player. Nothing he could do about it but it was a penalty. The penalty was well taken with the keeper going the wrong way.
It was a good game of football between two decent sides and a really enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning.
