In a season where Recliners have frequently started badly, this ranked as the worst start yet, Having given the ball away ten times in the first 3 minutes, we finally helped the Corries striker to get 1 on 1 with the keeper and he tucked the ball away with aplomb. Waking up after ten minutes or so, Recliners began to carve out chance after chance but spurned them all. Will managed to hit the bar, but his radar was seriously astray. At 1-0 we were confident of staying in the game, ‘we must not lose a second goal’ was the word from the side, until just before half time another mistake at the back allowed Corries to double their lead. Kindly the Corries keeper juggled a gentle loosener from Russ into the net straight after HT, before they restored a 2 goal lead with a well worked breakaway goal. Russ then netted a penalty and a trademark sumptuous lob for his hat trick, setting up a tense finale. When Will rounded the keeper and managed to hit the post with the entire goal at his mercy it looked like it wouldn’t be his day, but like all good strikers he kept plugging away and eventually got his reward. Tel added a fifth and Will latched on to a long ball from the keeper to complete the scoring. A game played in great spirit with plenty of good humour and plenty of comedy football to keep everyone smiling.
