League: Bristol Corinthians League

Sherston Vets vs West Country Utd Vets

A well-spirited game between first and second in the league! Kick off delayed slightly to allow West Country players a bit more time to reach us, but the lack of warm-up seemed to take its toll with a couple of early injuries prompting changes.
West Country took the lead after a high ball into the box lead to a header own goal. Sherston hit back with a combination of two goals from corners, and two worked up through the middle. 4-1 at half time, but with West Country finishing the half down to 10 players.

At half time, it was agreed that West Country could borrow a Sherston vets player and one of their Saturday first team players to keep the game competitive.

the second half was an open affair, with West Country having the better of it forcing a couple of good saves from the Sherston keeper. But no further goals in the game. Sherston 4-1 West Country at FT

Nailsea Vets 50s vs Easton Monday 95

Nailsea were quick out the blocks with a goal in the first two minutes. Frosty played Tony through for a one on one with Mondays keeper and he calmly side footed his shot low into the right corner. The first half was reasonably evenly contended although Mondays felt they should have had a penalty to give a chance to draw level before half time. Monday’s equalised 10 minutes into the second half with a well worked move ending with a low cross into the box from the right and a glancing header beating Lee McGreevy into the far left of the net. Mondays played some neat passing football and had the better of possession in the last 25 minutes but didn’t pose too many threats to the Nailsea goal. Nailsea nearly snatched a late winner with a shot off the crossbar but a draw was probably a fair result. We look forward to the rematch in a few weeks time.
