Bryan Munich vs Rapid Dementia (Rapid win 3-1 on Pens)

Rapid travelled to Bryan for the Over 45s cup semi final affair, that promised another competitive match. Manager Gregory frustrated with limited availability and a few last minute drop outs, meaning a squad of 12 arrived for the match.

Bryan started very well and it was clear that Rapid had to ride the storm to stay in the match. A very well organised defence of Gay, Harrison, Presley and Stokes did just that, with good covering from the midfield trio of Griffiths, Gregory and Slocombe.

Despite the pressure Bryan were limited in chances and were punished when Justin Dowling escaped down the left and delivered a terrific cross which Dave Stokes met with a towering header to put Rapid 1 nil up.

The second half continued in much the same fashion, Rapid not really playing as much football as usual but very well organised. Bryan did make a chance when on the rare occasion the ball wasn’t cleared and their centre back found enough space ion the box for a well executed finish.

The game ran down to what felt like the inevitable penalty stage, manager Gregory nervous but confident due to Rapids 100% record in Over 45 Penalty competitions. Bryan went first and missed, before Slocombe, Dowling and Griffiths all converted whilst Bird in goal made an outstanding save. The game was clinched as Bryan smashed their fourth pen against the bar, confusion raged for a few seconds before Rapid realised they had booked their final place in the cup!
