BCL Committee

Created with Sketch.

These are the poor souls charged with steering the Corinthians League precariously into the future…

Mike Akers

RECLINERS FC

Mike’s final slump into the Downs League also doubles as the high point of his footballing career.

400 plus games for Retainers down by the sea walls and a single inclusion in the first team (an unused sub) tells its own story….

Rich Davis

KCC FC

From the dizzy heights of winning everything there was to win in youth football and playing solidly for 15 years. Ankle, knee and god knows how many other injuries made me stop playing for about 12 years until the Corinthians League was found.

Now you will find me either, running the line, wishing I can try play again at some point, organising stuff for the football or cricket club, or trying to help out on the Corinthians League Committee where I can.

This league has helped me find my love of local football again, so hopefully my knees will hold out a little while longer yet so I can try get the boots and kit back on at some point

Andy Edwards

Fry Club FC

I still think I am young enough to play Saturdays in the Bristol and District leagues but in truth Vets football has given me a new lease of life! Drawn to the Corinthians league for their work for charity via my time with SANDS, Fry’s vets formed in 2023/24

Andy Purnell

EASTON MONDAY 95

We can’t reveal Andy’s identity due to the secret nature of the role Andy plays in keeping order across the BCL. If you know, you know! Rumours that he is a Jedi are false.

Andrew Robinson

Red Star Bristol

A torn ACL at the age of 56 (surely only days away from a call up to Southgate’s England team), forced me into retirement as a player and into management with the mighty Red Star.

I inadvertently put my hand up when the league asked for volunteers a couple of years ago to help organise the 25th anniversary do. This led to joining the steering group then the league committee.

Matty Williams

HENLEAZE CORINTHiaNS

Dragged up on the mean streets of Trowbridge…via Mid Wilts Youth League, before alcohol, gigs and women took hold. Then Football dragged me back in via Bath & District and Trowbridge & District Leagues. Before life got in the way again.

After a 10 year football hiatus, in 2013 the Bristol Corinthian League came calling. Now a Henleaze Corinthian’s stalwart who moonlights for any other team that is short of a “attacking” centre back!
