Banjo Munchenbadback vs Pucklechurch FC Vets
Not sure where to start with this game!
Pucklechurch started strongly taking advantage of Banjo mistakes to lead by 2 in 10 minutes, but Banjo came back to lead 3v2 before Church equalised to go in at half time 3v3.
10 minutes into second half Puckle lead 5v3 and then a further goal made it 6v3 before Banjo hit back to make 6v4.
Puckle then made it 7 and 8 before Banjo rallied late to cut the deficit with 2 goals to end the game 6 v 8
What a game for the neutrals! A latecomer on the sidelines came at 10.40am and he missed 5 goals. In truth there were a number of chances missed for both teams and 8-6 could easily have been 14-14. It was a competitive affair with one slightly bad tackle from our behalf, but with handshakes, beers and sausage and chips after which was much appreciated.
Lyde Green Vets vs Frampton Ath Vets

A great game of football played with great corinthian spirit! Very even throughout the first half, with Lyde Green taking a 1-0 lead mid-way through the half. The Lyde Green goalkeeper pulled off a worldie to keep the score 1-0 just before half time. Frampton made it 1-1 within five minutes of the restart, before Frampton’s legs disappeared on the hour mark and the fitness levels of Lyde Green led them to dominate the remainder of the game and make the scoreline very comfortable for them.

Another good close encounter with Frampton played in excellent spirit throughout. It took Lyde a solid half hour before some of the hangovers started to subside and Ben gave us the lead. A few good saves from both keepers kept the score at 1-0 at the break. Frampton level after Carts failed to cut out a cross (earning him yet another Donkey award from his teammates) leaving an easy finish at the back post. It turns out this was the kick Lyde needed and after hitting the crossbar 3 times, Doughtz gave us the lead when the ball fell at his feet 6 yards out from a corner. The game started to fizzle out as Frampton tired and Doughtz grabbed his second to secure the win.
Weston Pirates vs Henleaze Corinthians
Corries travelled out Weston way in search of Pirates! What they found was two teams with 23 players between them! Game started with no linos and Weston’s only sub as ref. What could have turned into a nightmare was actually a game played with no real contentious decisions played in the Corinthian way. Hats off to both teams. Now onto the carnage.
In a close opening few minutes lines were drawn before Henleaze took the lead through James Reid after only 5 mins. But Weston soon got back and levelled after 17mins. Henleaze then nipped back in front with a goal from Gabe Downing. Then things got messy! Weston equalised just before the break and then Henleaze came in at half time and put their feet up and decided to not show up for the first 15 mins of the second half. Weston reeled off 3 goals to lead 5-2 before Henleaze had managed to put 3 passes together. But then, Henleaze dragged themselves off the canvas, Tyson Fury style, and started their comeback!
3 goals in 9 minutes from Phil Giddings, Jimmer Charnley and James Reid (assisted by two great passes from man of the man Tom Perrot) brought the scores to 5-5 with 20 mins to play. Then in the 86th minute Henleaze broke down the right, Centre back Matty Williams picked up the ball on the half way line drove to the by line, skipping past a Weston defender and pulled the ball back into the 6 yard box where under pressure from James Reid the Weston defender put the ball into his own net. A nervy last 5 minutes, with 3 Weston corners in the 90th minute passed and the final whistle blew! A great game, played in the right spirit!
